For Teachers: Courses At The Zoo
EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATOR WORKSHOPS
Preschool through second grade teachers
Program Fee: $20 (includes admission & parking)
Program Time: 9:30 – Noon
Discover ways to use the Zoo as an educational resource and to present animal information to young children. These 2 1/2-hour workshops include animal background information, lesson and book ideas, a Zoo tour and craft samples. Continuing-education certificates are provided. UWM CREDIT COURSES AT THE ZOO
The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee offers one-credit courses at the Zoo. Courses include Zoo tours. Teachers can earn undergraduate or graduate credit. Call UWM Outreach, (414) 229-5255, for information and registration. One course is taught each semester.
Endangered Species
June 20 & 21, 2009 (Saturday & Sunday)

Learn information and techniques to develop study units about endangered species. We’ll teach you how to use the
Zoo as a teaching resource.
Study of the World’s Predators & Carnivores
October 17 & 18, 2009 (Saturday & Sunday)
Course time: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Delve into the world of flesh eaters. Through tours, discussions, and activities, this course will dispel myths and explore the facts about diverse groups of carnivorous animals.
Observing Animals at the Zoo
April 10 & 11, 2010 (Saturday & Sunday)
Course time: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Learn information and techniques to develop study units incorporating behavioral observation activities at the Zoo. Dates may change for this course.
