Conserving the Earth’s natural resources is on everyone’s minds these days. Come to the Milwaukee County Zoo’s Conservation Weekend for kid-friendly, “green”-themed activities. Enjoy games by groups such as Keep Greater Milwaukee Beautiful and the Wehr Nature Center; conservation talks by Zoo Pride volunteers; a zookeeper booth on polar bear conservation, and activities to make thumbprint murals depicting animals. Boy Scouts will have craft demonstrations and will turn the Zoo’s big parking lot into an Earth-friendly track as they race Cubmobiles made out of wood and recycled materials. The event opens with a parade of flags at 11 a.m. Saturday.
