A brisk run or walk in the Zoo’s 29th annual Samson Stomp is the perfect way to get your blood flowing on a January morning. This run-walk, sponsored by Gatorade and Pick ‘n Save, honors the late gorilla Samson, one of the most popular animals in Zoo history. Money raised from this event supports all the animals at the Zoo.
Choose from four races:
- 5 km (3.1-mile) competitive run begins at
9:30 a.m. - 2-mile fun run/walk begins at 10:15 a.m.
- 1-mile romp begins at 10:45 a.m.
- children’s one-quarter-mile mini-romp begins at 11 a.m.
Registration fee includes a long-sleeve T-shirt, Zoo admission and parking. Refreshments will be available for purchase immediately after the run. Zoological Society memberships do not apply to this Zoo fund-raising event. Registration is from 8 to 9 a.m., but preregistration is recommended. Preregistration fees are $16 for the longer races, $15 for the two short romps and $13 per runner if at least four from the same family register together. Corporate teams for the 5 km race are $120 per team. Race-day registration is $18 for all races (except for families registering at least four members; they get the $13-per-runner rate).
