Chicago’s Field Museum
Saturday, September 20, 2008, 6 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Zoological Society of Milwaukee field trip
Cost:
$45 per adult;
$25 per child (11 and younger)
What makes volcanoes spew hot lava? Why are tornados so loud? Can scientists predict earthquakes? Learn about nature’s wild side at the Chicago Field Museum’s “Nature Unleashed: Inside Natural Disasters” exhibit, which lets visitors experience the roar of a tornado and monitor earthquakes around the world. The Field Museum is also home to popular permanent exhibits such as “The Ancient Americas,” which features Ice Age mammoth hunters, and the “Evolving Planet,” a journey through four billion years of life on Earth. You can also see exhibits about planets, ecosystems and fossils; visit the gift shop; and have lunch at the Corner Bakery (soups, sandwiches, finger foods) or McDonald’s, both in the museum.
The trip costs $45 per person ages 12 and up; $25 per child ages 11 and under (trip not recommended for children under age 4). Your fee includes a continental breakfast featuring doughnuts donated by Krispy Kreme, bagels, fresh fruit, coffee, milk and juice in the Peck Welcome Center; transportation on restroom-equipped motor coaches; beverages donated by PepsiAmericas; and a snack bag on the return trip. (Note to those with allergies: Snacks may include dairy and peanut byproducts.) Registration starts at 6 a.m. at the Milwaukee County Zoo; we leave at 7 a.m. We depart from the Field Museum at 5 p.m. and return by 7 p.m. An itinerary will be mailed prior to the trip. Space is limited, and because of the variability in third-class mail delivery, we want to make sure all of our members receive this notice before we accept reservations. Reservations will not be accepted until Monday, July 21, 2008.
Cancellations prior to September 2, 2008, are refundable, less a $10 per person cancellation fee. Cancellations after September 2, 2008, are not refundable.
