Kandy Vang, a fourth-grader at Milwaukee’s Barton Elementary School, reads a thank-you note at an Animal Ambassador graduation on May 28, 2009. Kandy was thanking U.S. Cellular®, the school’s sponsor, for helping the students to take part in the Zoological Society’s Animal Ambassador program. This program brings the world of animals and conservation to kids attending schools in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods. More than 2,100 students from 21 schools graduated from the program in May 2009. Animal Ambassador celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2009.
