Centennial Birthday Party Photos
The Zoological Society of Milwaukee celebrated its 100th birthday on Jan. 9, 2010, at the Zoo. The Centennial Celebration Kickoff, sponsored by Tri City National Bank, featured Old World Wisconsin historical interpreters, a barbershop quartet, a museum-style photo history of the Zoological Society, retro kids’ games, a cake-decorating contest and other fun.

This roll-top desk has been with the Zoological Society and the Zoo for well more than a half-century. It used to reside at the old Washington Park Zoo and was moved to the Zoo’s new location on Blue Mound Rd. The Milwaukee County Zoo opened in 1961.Photo by Paula Brookmire
