Centennial Birthday Party Photos
The Zoological Society of Milwaukee celebrated its 100th birthday on Jan. 9, 2010, at the Zoo. The Centennial Celebration Kickoff, sponsored by Tri City National Bank, featured Old World Wisconsin historical interpreters, a barbershop quartet, a museum-style photo history of the Zoological Society, retro kids’ games, a cake-decorating contest and other fun.

The highlight of 1950 at the Zoo was the arrival of two young gorillas, Samson and Sambo. Samson lived 32 years at the Zoo, but Sambo died at age 10. Photo by Paula Brookmire
