Early History of the Zoological Society

In 1956, the Zoological Society launched a $300,000 fund-raising campaign at the Pfister Hotel, complete with zebra, donkey (held by Zoo Director George Speidel), elephant and leopard. The fund drive exceeded its goal by $200,000.Photographer unknown
