Early History of the Zoological Society

Special thanks to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel for contributing many of the unknown photographer images.

In 1907 visitors enjoyed a new sea lion exhibit at the Washington Park Zoo. As citizen interest grew for the young zoo, so did its monetary support. Between 1906 and 1920 there was substantial construction and remodeling of animal quarters, including a monkey exhibit, eagle aviary, and mammal house.Photo: Jos. Brown
