Q. When can I start collecting recyclables?
A. The official kick-off for the Cans for Cash for Critters(C3) is February 14, 2010, but you can sign up and start recycling anytime.
Q. What can I recycle?
A. Anything that can be redeemed for money--aluminum cans, for example. You can even choose to recycle things from your home by having a garage sale. We encourage you to use your imagination to come up with other ways to recycle and raise money. Questions? Contact Becky at (414) 258-2333 or c3@zoosociety.org.
Q. Where do I take my recyclables?
A. Most communities have recycling centers where you can take your items to redeem them for cash. To find your local center, check online or in the phone book. Please do not bring items to the Zoo. We cannot accept them. We will only accept donations.
Q. Do I need to keep my recycling receipts?
A. No. However, they may help you keep track of how many items you’ve recycled and how much you’ve earned.
Q. Who can join this program?
A. Everyone! C3 is open to youth groups, school groups, families and workplaces.
Q. What’s the deadline for submitting our Cans for Cash for Critters donations and recycling tracking forms?
A. All donations and tracking forms—whether they are submitted online or mailed to us via “snail mail”—must be received by August 6, 2010.

Q. What is the Bash for Trash ceremony, and when is it held?
A. C3 participants and winners will be recognized at the Bash for Trash ceremony. It will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2010, at 11 a.m. in the Peck Welcome Center at the Milwaukee County Zoo.
Q. Can my parents, other family members, and friends attend the Bash for Trash ceremony on Aug. 28?
A. Yes! They are welcome to attend, but they must purchase an admission ticket to the Milwaukee County Zoo (Zoological Society of Milwaukee members always get free admission). They are also invited to participate in the Cans for Cash for Critters recycling drive to earn their own admission passes and to win prizes! If they collect $20 worth of recyclables, they will each receive a Zoo admission ticket.
Q. The Bash for Trash will be held on the same day as the Zoological Society’s Animal Safari. Can we participate in this event?
A. The Zoological Society’s Animal Safari is a behind-the-scenes event for animal sponsors. The day includes a variety of activities, including behind-the-scenes tours in selected animal areas at the Zoo. The tours are limited to animal sponsors. The rest of the event’s activities are open to the public, however. You may sponsor an animal that day and join the tours, or you can become an animal sponsor now.
Q. What is the expiration date of my Zoo admission ticket?
A. Tickets are valid for August 28, 2010, only.
Q. When will I receive my Zoo admission tickets and prizes?
A. You will receive your tickets and prizes no later than Friday, August 20, 2010, in time for the Aug. 28 Animal Safari event. Additional prizes will be awarded the day of the event in each category [Youth Groups (Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, etc.), Individuals/Families, Schools, Companies] during the Bash for Trash ceremony.
