Kids' Green Art Contest

Kids' Green Art Contest

You know all about recycling, but did you know that recycled items can make great art? The Zoological Society is hosting its annual eco-themed art contest for children ages 17 and under. Get a prize just for participating! Here’s how it works: Kids can pick any kind of discarded materials, such as soda cans. Then, create an art project using these recycled materials only (tape and glue are okay). This year's theme is "Creating Camouflage." Camouflage is the art of not being seen. It’s used by predators and prey. Color, body shape and patterns help animals blend in with their surroundings to avoid detection. Pick an animal that you think has cool camouflage and illustrate it in your artwork.

Parents, fill out the form online or download the entry form to print off and mail in by Aug. 12. Projects will be displayed at the Milwaukee County Zoo on Aug. 27 at Animal Safari. This is a behind-the-scenes event for animal sponsors. Contest registration does not include entry into the behind-the-scenes tours. Sponsor an animal here to receive an invitation to participate in the tours. You do not have to be an animal sponsor to enter the contest. We’ll have first- and second-place prizes such as plush toys and animal sponsorships. Plus, all art contest participants will receive a participation prize. Please see the updated contest guidelines for important information.
