Pat the Great Cat - A Jaguar's Journey
Milwaukee and Belize have something in common – a cat. Pat the Cat is a jaguar from Belize who got into trouble when he hunted cattle. He hunted cattle because his prey decreased in number when his habitat decreased in size. The Zoological Society of Milwaukee (ZSM) collaborated with the Sharp Literacy program to produce a wonderful book about Pat the Cat and his journey from the Belize Zoo to the Milwaukee County Zoo. The book was researched by children in 32 Sharp Literacy schools in Milwaukee and school children in Belize, too.
The purpose of the book is to increase children’s literacy skills as they learn about an important animal and about the positive power of people working together.
The ZSM, in collaboration with Sharp Literacy, is making this wonderful children’s storybook available for purchase, for a limited time, at the Guest Services Kiosk at the Milwaukee County Zoo. Or order the book online. The cost of the book is $19.95 and includes WI sales tax (shipping cost is extra.) A percentage of the proceeds support conservation efforts of the ZSM and Milwaukee County Zoo.
