ABOUT THE ZOOLOGICAL SOCIETY
ABOUT THE SOCIETY
Our Mission is to Conserve, Educate and Support
The Zoological Society of Milwaukee passionately works to conserve wildlife and the environment, educate our community through innovative programs, and support the Milwaukee County Zoo. As a nonprofit organization, the Society raises money for local, regional, and international conservation efforts and to help the Zoo remain a top cultural destination in Wisconsin and beyond.

Awesome Events for Everyone
We partner with the Milwaukee County Zoo to create and host special events throughout the year for our members, zoo visitors, and our community. Our events range from free, family-friendly experiences right at the Zoo to a black-tie gala that raises funds for our Zoo and Society initiatives. In fact, fundraising events through the Society bring in more than $1 million each year to further our mission!
ZSM in the News
We often invite the media to cover our member events, amplify our announcements, and report on our major accomplishments. They help us spread the word on our mission and events to keep the community involved and informed! Stay up to date on the Society’s big announcements and coverage in the news.
Our Leadership
The Zoological Society staff works hard to maintain and run the day-to-day operations. The Board of Directors helps set policies that govern the Society, plan and approve goals and budgets, and work with the Society employees to raise funds that will further our mission. Each member of the Board volunteers their time and dedication and are elected to three-year terms.
Our Yearly Updates
Each year the Zoological Society sums up the previous fiscal year and how it helped further our mission to conserve, educate, and support the Milwaukee County Zoo. The Annual Report also highlights special accomplishments and awards throughout the year. We are so thankful to our community of donors and we want them to know all the good their generosity is creating!
Our History in Print
We have a long history of creating publications that keep Zoo Pass members, Platypus Circle members, and other supporters up to date on the Zoo’s animals, events, and fundraisers. Each publication features fun and interesting stories and unique pictures from the Zoo!

Requesting a Donation from the Society
We are always happy to try and support other local charitable organizations through an in-kind donation. Due to the incredible demand, we aren’t always able to fulfill each request, but we do keep a close eye on all applications and work very hard to help whenever we can.
